General Manager, Stephen Holland
Prior to joining Verve, Stephen Holland spent 15 years in the hospitality industry from one Canadian coast to the other. His management and customer service experience provides the staff and residents with the highest standard of leadership and service excellence. Stephen is passionate about quality in senior’s care, supporting family members, and creating a positive work environment.
Since 2017, Stephen has provided leadership as a General Manager and Area Manager with Verve Senior Living. Stephen’s ongoing commitment to residents and team members is evident in all areas of the business and his core philosophy of engagement can be felt by all. These core values and those of Verve Senior Living will continue to be at the forefront at The Shores of Port Credit.
ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER, SZABINA SARVARY
Szabina’s decade of experience working in the retirement industry began as a server and included concierge, dining services supervisor, office manager and business manager before stepping into the Assistant General Manager role. She previously studied economics and trade in Hungary before immigrating to Canada in 2011 and completed an accounting program at George Brown College.
Szabina’s favourite part of working at The Shores of Port Credit is the big family atmosphere where all staff and residents know each other, as well as ensuring each resident feels at home while here.
Lifestyle Consultant, Katherine Mayers
Katherine Mayers is no stranger to the sales and marketing world having worked almost 20 years in the hospitality industry in some of the top hotels in the City of Toronto. Although Katherine is new to Senior Living, she is not new to working alongside seniors and their families. Most recently having worked with travel companies helping seniors plan cross-Canada vacations.
LIFESTYLE CONSULTANT, MICHELLE BIBBY
Michelle’s marketing experience began in the tourism industry, working various marketing positions at Toronto’s CN Tower, including opening the EdgeWalk, before transitioning to the retirement industry five years ago as a Sales and Marketing Manager. She holds a degree in Finance from York University and a Marketing Certificate from Ryerson University.
Her favourite part of working in this industry is learning from the wealth of knowledge the seniors that she works with have and developing authentic friendships within The Shores community to create a family environment.
Health and Wellness Manager, Jana Simpson
Jana Simpson has been a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) serving the older adult population since 2007. She comes to The Shores with over a decade’s experience working in the Senior Living industry and as a Health and Wellness Manager. Jana insists on the highest quality of care and excellent customer service through effectively leading an empowered and highly skilled health and wellness team. She’s a real stickler for compliance and regulatory guidelines and is our expert on regulations and corporate policies.
LIFE ENRICHMENT MANAGER, SONIA SHEMAR
Sonia’s passion for implementing meaningful activities and developing long-lasting relationships with residents and their families stemmed from her experience in long term care as a Recreation Manager and Director of Recreation in several Ontario retirement communities.
Before coming into healthcare, Sonia was a practicing paralegal and graduated from the Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology. Her various experiences give Sonia a unique perspective when it comes to creating programs for you at The Shores of Port Credit.
EXECUTIVE CHEF, KHRISTOPHER WHITE
Since a teen first shucking oysters in Kingston, Jamaica, Khristopher’s lifelong affinity for cooking lead to studying culinary management at Humber College, and the Chef Advanced Training program at the Liaison College of Culinary Arts where he pursued his interest in French cuisine.
Working his way from line cook to Executive Chef, Khristopher has had the pleasure of cooking for numerous international people of influence and appearing on television in the role.
For over a decade now, Khristopher has worked in retirement residences as an Executive Chef/Dining Service Manager, overseeing over 170 residents and 20 employees at one point, and piloted several culinary department projects. His love and respect for quality and tradition ensure residents of The Shores of Port Credit are in for a culinary delight.
SOUS CHEF, GUSTAVO HERNANDEZ
Gustavo graduated from Humber College in 2012 with Honours in Culinary Management and has since acquired extensive experience in pastry and cooking, receiving his Red Seal Designation in 2015.
Since 2013, Gustavo has been a part of the Verve Senior Living family, catering to the tastes of the residents. He enjoys interacting on the day-to-day, working closely with residents and their families. Meeting their needs is a priority for Gustavo. He is passionate about constantly furthering his culinary skills to bring good food that feeds the mind and body to the residents of The Shores of Port Credit.
DINING ROOM MANAGER, ROLI SAXENA
Roli’s extensive training began with her Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management before going on to complete 12 years of global customer service specializing in service industry such as hotels, cruise lines, and 5 years of dining room management experience in the retirement community.
Her passion is working with seniors. Roli believes in making a meaningful difference in their life every single day, to ensure every day at The Shores of Port Credit is a great one.
Office Manager, Patricia Szczepanik
Patricia Szczepanik has been working with seniors for 10 years now, having started her career as an Activation Coordinator. She went on to finish her Bachelor of Arts with honours in Gerontology and is bringing all those skills to the team as the Office Manager for The Shores of Port Credit. Patricia brings her creative and joyful personality to the leadership team and is excited to be gaining the experience of opening a new senior living residence. She has found her calling in serving seniors and continues to find a path that honours these members of our community.
LEAD CONCIERGE, BARBARA KERR
Barb brings her long career in administration, including 5 years at one of our sister properties in Streetsville, and passion for helping others to The Shores of Port Credit.
In addition to Administration courses from Sheridan College, Barb’s experiences volunteering for the Salvation Army and Trillium Health Partners played a crucial role in developing her customer service skills that she is now putting to good use enriching the lives of residents at The Shores of Port Credit.

ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES MANAGER, IRFAN SHALLWANI
With more than 30 years of experience (17 years in the financial sector and 13 years in environmental services) spread over several countries, including Pakistan, Dubai-UAE, Muscat-Oman, and currently in Toronto, Canada, Irfan is thrilled with the opportunity to bring his expertise to The Shores of Port Credit, where he will put his master’s degree in Business Administration to good use brightening the days of the residents in our community.
